Cedar Ridge Band

Cedar Ridge offers a
Bitterroot Blend of Bluegrass, Country,
Folk, and Contemporary music
that features vocal and instrumental numbers.
The group performs at many
Western Montana venues including the
Ravalli County Fair, Corvallis Memorial
Day Celebration, Bannack Days,
Hamilton's Apple Days.
You may even see them in a horse drawn
wagon being pulled down Main Street
 in Stevensville during a
First Friday celebration!

Perry Vose, leader of the Cedar Ridge Band, has dabbled with music most of his life but it wasn't until he was age 59 that he thought: You know, I've always liked the banjo. If I'm ever going to do it, I'd better do it now. Perry has been nicknamed "Bulldog" because when he gets ahold of something, he doesn't let go, and that's exactly what happened with the banjo. He started taking lessons and he hasn't let go. He now plays the guitar and Dobro as well as the banjo. He has given lessons for the past six or seven years (including banjo lessons for Larry!). Perry is now the President of the Bitterroot Valley Bluegrass Festival as well as the leader of Cedar Ridge.

Rob Chapman started his musical career at age 8 with the violin, was classically trained; and then started playing the mandolin 10 years ago. He now plays the guitar and is taking up the harmonica. Rob never thought he could play and sing at the same time but he's even done an occasional vocal this past year or so. You can find Rob playing before a half dozen patrons in his restaurant in the Bitterroot or being part of a 100 piece symphony orchestra. Rob likes to have fun and that is why you might find him doubling as the band clown! Don't be surprised to see him appearing in his shocking red long johns as you see above at the Bannack Days Ghost Town celebration, or maybe telling a tale like only Rob can tell!

Gary Bladen, a John Denver fan, plays a mean 12 string. He enjoys the open mike and has a wonderful voice for a variety of types and styles of music including folk, country, contemporary and others. Harmony and lead vocals are both a lot of fun for him. Gary, who has has been playing guitar and singing for almost 40 years, played in a contermporary/folk band back East, but has really gotten into Bluegrass since moving to Montana 10 years ago. He's a real asset to the Cedar Ridge Band!

Lois Lee is Ms. Bluegrass herself. Lois has played and sung with a number of bands including Bitterroot Bluegrass, Downright Country, Bittersweet, Gravel Road and Sapphire Blue. She was on the Bluegrass Festival Board of Directors for over 10 years, nurturing it from infancy to the largest Family Oriented Bluegrass Festival in Montana. If there's anything Lois likes better than her cats, it's her banjo, which she has played for about 18 years. She also likes the guitar and does a number of the vocals for the group.
